Report reaching DAILY POST says the Federal High
Court, Abuja, has ordered the Department of State
Service, DSS, to immediately effect the release of the
detained Director of Radio Biafra and leader of the
Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.
The Justice Adeniyi Ademola led Federal High Court
ruled on Thursday that the continued incarceration
of Kanu by the DSS was unlawful.
It would be recalled that Kanu was yesterday
discharged by Shuaibu Usman of the magistrate
court in Wuse II, Abuja, of all counts of criminal
conspiracy, intimidation and leading an unlawful
society brought against him by the federal
government.
The government through DSS had opted to withdraw
the case at the lower court for a higher court, which
has jurisdiction to entertain charges bordering on
terrorism.
The DSS has had the IPOB leader incarcerated for
at least 90 days despite an order granting him bail
in October. It had sought an order of the Federal
High Court, Abuja, to keep Kanu in detention.
